Where does the 1% come from? I assume these reported thefts. It is far far higher. What about the thieves who try but fail and the target does not know. Even if they know, they not going to report it I travel to Paris a lot and have had issues many times and there is no way I am going through the local police system to report it. The train from the airport is a nightmare. If you have luggage, you are a prime target. If you are obviously a tourist you will be a target 100% not 1%. Your tips are very good and for everyone. I have worked in war zones that are safer. I have a vest with large internal pockets and everything goes into that at the CDG airport before I get on the train.
Be vigilant wherever. Stations, shops, airports, concerts. Anywhere in large crowds.
Tip: Always watch the hands & watch what the hands are doing. Always be attentive & be aware.
I myself was pick pocketed but the young lad that lifted my wallet did realise it was on a train as the train doors closed he had my wallet and I was on the train he had to let go as the train was moving off into the tunnel
Men, buy a compact wallet and keep it in your front pocket, jeans are best as they have a horizontal type opening pockets more towards the front whereas trousers mainly have easy access vertical opening side pockets so not as good and secure as jeans. In busy trains, you can put your thumb in you pocket to cover you wallet. Put your phone in the other front pocket, same deal. Wear you passport around your neck in a passport bag, you can feel it if it is pulled from your neck strap. Worked for me in Europe some years back.
Don’t go there!!
I would say the best tip is to have a good anti theft bag (ie Pacsafe) anti slash, a fiddly zipper system or even fully padlocked. Make it too difficult & they’ll look for an easier target.
Dont have anything in your pockets but rather in a bag that you keep in front of you
Thank you for giving us information to protect yourself.
I would really appreciate the next topic. You might have already covered this but how would you dress yourself, what would you recommend in terms of dressing and actually wearing certain kind of things and clothes that will deter theft.
Your guide lines are perfect apart from. Refuse someone trying to help. You must be really paranoid. When you can speak three or more languages, it is good to offer you help. I don’t read Japanese, when I was in Japan I was glad when someone âme over to offer their help when I got lost…
Why would you want French people to help you if you’re so arrogant and suspicious?
Valuable information, thank you!
The fools shall be robbed
This reminds me of the time I was touring the subways and I walked out with SOMEONE ELSE'S wallet! I couldn't believe how it happened. I was only with one day of practice and I was able to grab it with ease!
As a dutch woman often traveling alone, I have been aware of pickpockets in Amsterdam and had several near-miss experiences in Rome, Amsterdam and Paris. THE NUMBER ONE TIP – I carry a crossbody PACSAFE handbag. Impossible to get in. And NOTHING of value in any pockets. And I am aware of scooters, motorbikes approaching while walking and will stand back when I hear them coming. Been traveling for many years and nothing happened. And of-course, wearing a backpack (purse or bigger) on your back screams: "I'm a naive tourist" Yes, be aware of your surroundings, always. Good tips in this video.
In Barcelona I could identify pickpockets from a mile away. Their behavior is so obvious. When all others look at the attractions and people are watching others you know what they are up to. I am always aware of my surroundings.
Surrounded by under-10 girls team on a metro station platform in central Rome. I managed to grab one by the wrist and loudly demanded my wallet back. They started crying and acting the victims, then they suddenly threw the wallet back at me and bolted off, as two seemingly ordinary passengers approached. Plain clothes police patrol.
I was “ attacked “by a teenage gang of girls in Paris Metro
My wife is ex vice and prostitution in the Met
She “broke “ on girls wrist and ejected 2 more from the train shacking their wrists and screaming abuse at us
The carriage erupted with cheering and clapping and praise for me v clever wife
Great production
Think you got this spot on
This video is very informative. I have a neck wallet on a metal chain. It goes under my sweater. I think it'll be safe.
Paris is Africa now.
Vâchement chouette! Tu n’es plus au Kansas mon vieux😊
sport? I think you mean CRIME.
Rome is very bad for theives.
I just got robbed in the metro on Ligne 4 Les Halles for sitting by the door. A guy just took my necklace and broke my top right before the door closed and it happened so fast! I got scratches from his nails. Definitely don’t use your phone so much and pay attention on your surroundings.
If you are using cash, just keep 10/20euro and some change to hand in an easy to use pocket. Then you don't have to get put a purse or wallet to pay for small stuff , and if someone manages to pickpocket that, its not much to lose.
We even got a fake Chanel bag from Chanel store in a big Lafayette department store.
A busy cosmetic store on the Champs Elysees street, sales will stuff you with lots of free samples until you lost count at the cashier and she would charge you one or two of the samples unless you really knew what you just bought and the aprox. price. 😢
I always have a fake wallet with me, in it, is glitter and a "stinkpod" that cracks, when you open up the wallet. I've been to a lot of busy places, like Paris for example and at least one time they pickpocket the fake wallet. I hope it smelled very badly. My money is safe, tucked away under my shirt.
And this is why I stuff all my cash and cards in my bra 😂 I can even fit my cell phone in there.
I was that 1% got stolen in Paris.
I walk around with mouse traps in my jacket pockets.
I will use the metro for one day in paris the following week
Wish me luck 😅
Iam paranoid
Not sûre crowd avoid pickpocket
It s note a english word ???
I arrested a pickpocket who was not Parisian at all this one operated when there was no one, on an old lady
don't expect ratp to help you
They are paid so that there is no wave😮
Be careful at the NIce Tram station outside the Nice Airport. They are there waiting for distracted tourists. Young ladies!!!! ****Be careful****. Do not put all of your money in one place unless it is hidden in a money belt inside your clothes.
