What comes to mind when you think of Paris? The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Musee d’Orsay, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral, Montmartre, Sacre-Coeur, Champs Elysees, Moulin Rouge, Macarons, The Da Vinci Code, Claude Monet, Bistros, French Fries, French Kiss, fashion, the list is endless and there is no right or wrong answer, but whatever popped into your head, we can all agree that this notorious French city is a very popular romantic tourist destination and on most people’s bucket list. While following this simple art tutorial, you’ll learn to paint this captivating Parisian landscape portraiture with a distant city skyline that has depth, contrast and brilliant natural colors, creating a stunning and vibrant scenery painting. The first lesson you’ll learn in this acrylic instruction is how to paint atmospheric dimension in the background using color theory to mix custom colors and then you’ll combine a loose stippling blending technique with dabbing and swirling brushstrokes to create your clear sky and bright foliage in the park to set the stage for the perfect day in Paris. The next step to this canvas painting is to add the Eiffel Tower off in the distance surrounded by the enchanted city, which will be done using an impressionistic style for the buildings, perfect for creating the look of this iconic symbol without worry about fine detail. Continuing on in this beginner level tutorial, you’ll then learn how to paint an open and inviting rustic looking wooden window with a sheer curtain that overlooks the summer European Parisian scene. After drawing an outline and applying a base coat as a foundation to your female figure, you’ll use simple painting techniques to add color contrast, as well as highlights and shadows, to bring the proportions and form of her dress, body shape and scarf shall to life with a 3-d photo realistic quality. Following the instructions, you could easily change the color of her outfit, and have her wearing jeans, shorts, a shirt, or even a hat. You could take these instructions and change the background entirely—make it a sunset or sunrise painting and add a sun setting behind some mountains or, make it more of a flower painting and have her overlooking a lush flower garden field, or turn it into a seascape painting and have her overlooking an ocean. You could also use this simple painting acrylic lesson as a guide for using other mediums and you could turn this into an oil painting, a watercolour painting, or even an abstract painting. Using only 3 brushes and 8 colors we’ll create this conversational masterpiece that is sure to compliment any décor. Not just a beautiful painting, but an easy painting for beginners.
